New Year, New Kitchen

Well, it only seems new. That's because Paul and I took everything out of the cabinets, bought some bins and reorganized. I'm awfully proud of it and I thought our ideas might help others with "problem" pantries. We rent, so it's not like we can remodel but we can rearrange. Our cabinets are so deep that it makes it really difficult to see what all we have (I had two bottles of molasses and two bottles of Karo syrup--I would just buy more because I didn't know what there was), so I decided to put everything in "media storage" bins. Welcome to a tour of my "new" kitchen!

Being food-blog readers, I know you've got some tricks up your sleeves. Tell me--what's your kitchen organization tip?

  1. Well done--I am impressed! I may be your one reader who's not much of a cook, nor have I tried to organize our kitchen, to my shame. I do have one tip, however. A skirt hanger hung from a cabinet knob/handle works great as a recipe holder (assuming the recipe is on a sheet of paper or in a magazine, and not in something heavy like a cookbook). It holds it at approximately eye-height, and frees up precious counter space while cooking.

Your owl timer is super cute!

  2. Lauren - I am so jealous of your newly organised cupboards. Mine are SHOCKING. I might have a go at reorganising sometime soon. Wishing you a wonderfully creative year in 2013 - Jenny from Silver Screen Suppers x

    1. I should have done some "before" pics. Ours were pretty horrible.

  5. This! Is! So! Lovely! And! Organized! I need to take a page out of your book on this one. Also, I love the new look of your blog, I hadn't visited in awhile! (frown of consternation to my own not visiting, super kudos to your overhaul) Just like the kitchen-- clean and organized and elegant! :)
